Another leaked Android smartphone, Motorola Cliq 2

This week we have talked about the Google Nexus S, the upcoming HTC Thunderbolt and today we have the Motorola Cliq 2. What is for sure is the range and quality of Android handsets is growing rapidly. Apple only have one model per year instantly suggests the glory day for iPhone may be rapidly approaching? However the investment many of us have in iTune purchased media may well save the iPhone? Or iPhone 5 may just blow us alway later in 2011!

Anyway, the Motorola Cliq (the first) was a nice idea, but did not really work. It was small and lightweight which was an achievement given the qwerty keypad. But the “Blur” software which was intended to give users a single screen with all their communications from facebook, SMS and twitter just failed. (BTW, this device was not available in Europe, just US).

The leaked photos of Cliq 2 show a better looking implementation of Blur, although if this feature is important to you then go look at a Windows Phone 7. The keyboard still appears to be made from a similar touch pad which was not easy to type on. The specs are not leaked with any certainty, so we are left to waiting for official PR.

Here are the leaked images.

What excites me is not this particular handset. Instead it is the level of quality and speed of development we are seeing in Android devices. I am sure we will see the same with Windows Phone 7 in 2011 too. What could be better to improve the consumer experience and overall take up than huge choice and quality. 2011 will see the smartphone grow significantly, and I can not wait!
